Basic ratio
Use 2 parts rendered cosmetic-quality tallow to 1 part beeswax pellets to 1 part jojoba or another liquid oil. Melt gently in a double boiler, stir until uniform, and pour into clean tubes or tins standing upright.
Hygiene and keeping
Sterilize containers, keep all water out of the batch, and make small quantities. With no preservatives, store cool and dark, and discard at any change in odor, texture, or color.
Troubleshooting
Too soft: remelt with more beeswax. Too hard: remelt with more oil. Grainy: it cooled too slowly; remelt fully and cool it faster, ideally in the fridge.
